LIGHTING & DRAINAGE.

Low-voltage path and patio lighting plus French drains, surface drains, and dry wells — the unsexy details that make a patio finished and functional.

Why this matters

FINISH
THE DETAILS.

These are the parts of a patio nobody photographs — and the ones you'll be glad we did right. Lighting makes the patio usable after dark and dramatically increases perceived quality. Drainage keeps the base from saturating and the patio from heaving.

We integrate both into every patio build. Lighting and drainage planning happen during design, run through the same trenching, and get tested before final cleanup.

FAQ

PATIO LIGHTING & DRAINAGE QUESTIONS.

Should lighting be added at install or later?

At install — wire runs go in during trenching. Adding later means cutting up your patio.

How much does patio lighting add to project cost?

Typical residential lighting: $1,500-$4,000. Premium systems with in-hardscape LEDs: $4,000-$8,000.

Do I need drainage if my yard slopes?

Almost always yes — slope alone isn't enough in clay-heavy soils. We design surface drainage even for sloped yards.

French drain vs dry well — which do I need?

French drains move water; dry wells store and infiltrate. Most residential builds use one or the other; some use both.

Can I run my own lighting later?

Yes — but expect to cut into the patio joints for wire runs. Cleaner to plan upfront.

Are these covered by the lifetime workmanship guarantee?

Yes — same guarantee as the patio itself.
